A number of roads are closed in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks due to unsafe winter storm conditions.

The Generals Highway from Hospital Rock in Sequoia to Grant Grove in Kings Canyon closed at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Mineral Canyon Road, Middle Fork Road, Crystal Cave Road and Morro Rock Crescent Meadow Road in Sequoia National Park are all closed.

Panoramic Point Road in Kings Canyon National Park is also closed.

Vehicles will be unable to reach Sequoia trees from the southern entrance of Sequoia National Park.

If visitors are entering from the southern entrance, chains are required for all vehicles in order to reach Sequoia trees.

Roads had not been reopened as of 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

A winter storm warning will continue through Thursday night. Temperatures are expected to reach a low of 15 degrees by Friday in some areas of the parks.

It is unclear when roads will reopen.
