UPDATE (4:18 p.m.) - As of 4:15 p.m., all lanes were back open but traffic continued to move slowly through the area.

(3:37 p.m.) - A vehicle fire was causing traffic to back up Wednesday afternoon on Highway 101 near Shell Beach.
It happened shortly after 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes just before the Avila Beach Drive onramp.
A pickup truck hauling heavy equipment caught fire and was stopped in the middle lane.
Traffic was being directed into the #3 right lane.
No injuries were reported.
