French Hospital Medical Center partnered with Vitalant to encourage community members to donate blood ahead of the Labor Day holiday.
The hospital and blood donation service hosted a blood drive Friday to help bolster local and national blood supplies and be prepared for unexpected events and emergencies.
Vitalant is asking for donations of all blood types but they say they are in more need of O+ and O- blood.
Vitalant says they prefer to have a three day supply of blood. The blood donation service currently has a one day supply.
The hospital and Vitalant says the process of donating a pint of blood takes 45 minutes and can save up to three lives.
