The "Care for Paws" annual Wags and Whiskers festival kicked off Saturday in Santa Barbara, promoting pet adoption and bringing the local animal community together.
The free, family-friendly event was held today at the Santa Barbara City College's West Campus.
It is the largest pet adoption and animal festival on the Central Coast.
The festival featured more than 25 animal shelters and rescue groups as well as more than 150 dogs, cats, bunnies and birds ready to be adopted.
"Care for Paws" is a non-profit that works to reduce pet overpopulation and keep animals healthy and happy.
