The County of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department placed a temporary weight restriction on River Road Bridge at Huerhuero Creek 1.5 miles south of Wellsona Road.
The restriction is in place until further notice. River Road is recommended only for local traffic.
The bridge is vehicle weight restricted to a maximum of 20 tons for multi-axle vehicles. The bridge is also operating with a single-lane limitation.
A Caltrans bridge inspector recommended the weight restriction based on potential structural deficiencies. A more thorough inspection and recommendation for repairs is pending.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Highway 101 or Airport Road.
