The El Camino Homeless Organization opened a winter emergency shelter in Atascadero.
Officials with ECHO say the center is now open every day until March 31.
The shelter is located at the Community Church of Atascadero, which was the old warming shelter, at 5850 Rosario Ave.
Check-ins are between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The 20 beds are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
"Especially with this upcoming storm, I just can't imagine someone being out in those elements, terrible really terrible rainfall terrible winds and it's really cold so we are grateful for the community that helps us put this on," said Wendy Lewis, ECHO CEO.
