The California Highway Patrol has identified the woman killed in a crash on Highway 1 near Lompoc last week as Selena Araiza, 24, of Santa Barbara.

The crash happened at about 6:15 p.m. on February 14, about a half-mile south of Santa Rosa Rd.

Araiza was the passenger in a Nissan Sentra that was struck by another car headed in the opposite direction.

According to the CHP, a 55-year-old man from Lompoc was driving northbound when he veered off the right side of the road then careened back across the highway, striking the Nissan.

Araiza died at the scene. A gofundme to pay for funeral expenses has been set up in her name.

Both drivers were taken to an area hospital with major injuries, according to officers.

CHP investigators are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact Officer Hodgdon at (805) 688-5551.
