A woman was out walking her dog in Buellton Thursday evening when she was hit by a car on Highway 246, according to authorities.
Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli reports the collision happened at about 8:20 p.m. at Highway 246 and Sycamore Dr.
According to Bertucelli, the dog died and the woman suffered traumatic injuries. She was airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies shut down Highway 246 between Riverview Dr. and Valley Dairy Rd. to conduct their investigation. The stretch of highway has since reopened.
Information on whether any arrests where made has not yet been released.
