Young Central Coast basketball players put their skills to the test.

Boys and Girls from Paso Robles to Bakersfield showcased their basketball talents Sunday afternoon at the Junior NBA Skills Challenge at the Minami Center in Santa Maria.

Players ages five to 13 dribbled and shot hoops to gain points.

The winners of each age group will head to the regional competition for a chance to advance to the National Finals in New York City.

"The layout is the same every year, so when they go up in age, it's going to be the same so they can practice on that at home," said Anthony Cercone, a volunteer with the Band of Brothers Echo Group.

National finalists win an all−expense paid trip to New York City, receive gift bags, interact with NBA legends, and attend the 2020 NBA Draft presented by State Farm.

The local competitions run through February 15th.

The annual program, sponsored by Under Armour, is free to participate.
