NEW YORK CITY — While New York and the country brace for what officials warn might be the hardest week yet of the coronavirus crisis , Staten Island University Hospital is sharing a bit of hope with a moving new video.
In the video posted to Facebook on Saturday, mother of five Christina Paz was sent off with applause from doctors and nurses as she was wheeled toward the hospital doors to be discharged after a 15-day battle with COVID-19.
The hospital said in its post that Paz, 47, received critical care while battling the novel coronavirus for over two weeks.
The video shows Paz reuniting with her husband, who was waiting at the doors. The couple embraced in tears.
As of Tuesday, New York City COVID-19 cases have reached 72,181, with the death toll rising to over 3,800.
