INDIANAPOLIS — A suspect was shot and killed by Indianapolis police early Wednesday evening on the city's northwest side.
According to a public information officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the male suspect was shot during an exchange of gunfire with police. The officer was not wounded.
Police say there was a chase which was called off leading up to the shooting.
The suspect got out of his car and shot at police, according to IMPD.
The suspect was described as an African American male, as was the police officer.
Police say the suspect was driving "erratically" when the chase began.
