UPDATE (6:50 a.m.) - CHP has reopened Highway 166 in both directions following a two-car collision in the area Monday morning. Drivers should still expect slow traffic through the area as first responders clear the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY:
California Highway Patrol is responding to a two-car crash on Highway 166 near Wasioja Road.
According to CHP, the crash happened at about 5:40 Monday morning.
Initially, the crash caused both lanes of Highway 166 to close but the westbound lane has since reopened.
The eastbound lane remains closed and CHP says they do not know yet when it might reopen.
CHP says two people were able to get out of their vehicles on their own.
