A woman was arrested for battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest after the California Highway Patrol says she drove the wrong way on Highway 101 in Paso Robles early Tuesday morning.
CHP says officers were dispatched at about 4:08 a.m. to reports of a wrong-way driver.
According to witness reports, a driver, identified by CHP as Jennifer Lynn Martin, entered Highway 101 from Highway 46 West near Target and headed northbound in the southbound lanes.
CHP says the 37-year-old eventually crashed into a perimeter fence near Spring Street.
Once officers were on scene, they say witnesses told them the driver had ran from the crash and into the median.
Officers were able to track Martin down and say she began kicking, punching and biting them until they were able to take her into custody. The officers reportedly received minor injuries but were not treated at the hospital,
Martin was taken to the hospital to be checked out before being booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Jail logs show bail is set at $50,000.
