A 4.1 earthquake struck just west of Templeton on Tuesday morning.
According to the USGS, the quake was centered about five miles away from the town and struck at 9:54 a.m.
People with the MyShake app received an alert on their phones warning of the imminent quake and advising users to take cover.

The USGS originally reported the quake to be 4.4 magnitude, but downgraded it a short time later to 4.1.
