Canceled flights are affecting Central and South Coast travelers.

Santa Barbara Airport officials say the closure of two runways at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) canceled most of their flights to the Bay Area airport Monday and Tuesday.

Some people have been able to use Contour Airlines to catch flights to Oakland instead.

Airport officials in Santa Barbara say they expect the situation to improve.

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport Assistant Manager Craig Piper says the work in San Francisco is impacting many flights in San Luis Obispo as well.

The work reportedly began Saturday and is expected to continue through at least Sept. 21.

Multiple flights to and from San Luis Obispo and San Francisco were canceled Monday, although Piper says some flights are still on schedule.

Travelers are advised to check with their airlines regularly to stay updated on any changes that may occur.
