A crash involving a motorcycle and a truck shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in the Summerland area on Friday morning.

It happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. just south of Padaro Lane.

The crash blocked both lanes of traffic until about 8 a.m., when the #1 lane was reopened. All lanes were reopened as of 9:50 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old motorcyclist suffered major injuries in the crash.

Officers say the motorcyclist was lane splitting through traffic and collided with a Ford F250 work truck, ending up in the truck's bed.

The CHP is investigating and asks anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information about this crash to call (805) 770-4800.
