'Isolated incident' prompts lockdown at Santa Barbara City College

UPDATE (1 p.m.) - According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, officers responded to the SBCC stadium just before 11 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a disturbance involving two people.

Police say the two people were involved in an argument and one of them stabbed the other's bicycle tire, then left the area, heading toward campus.

The college was temporarily locked down so authorities could look for the person involved. They were not located and the lockdown was lifted.

Police say there is no public safety threat at this time.

(12 p.m.) - A lockdown initiated for parts of Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) on Tuesday has been lifted.

A school spokesperson did not elaborate on what prompted the lockdown, but said that the incident appears to be isolated between two people and that Santa Barbara police and campus safety were reviewing surveillance and working to clear the area.

The suspect was confirmed to have left campus, the spokesperson said, adding that police would be issuing additional information on the incident.

Police were asking people to stay away from campus until the situation was resolved.

According to Santa Barbara City College's website, classes for the fall semester begin Aug. 24.
