Santa Barbara hosted the City’s first-ever Pride flag raising ceremony outside City Hall on August 17.

In honor of this year’s Pride Week, community members were invited to watch as the Pride flag rose over De La Guerra Plaza.

The ceremony was held in partnership with Pacific Pride Foundation (PPF), PFLAG Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network (SBTAN), YouthWell, and the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara.

City officials said the ceremony honored the strength and spirit of local LGBTQ+ residents, families, and youth and recognized the Pride Flag as a powerful symbol of visibility, acceptance, and unity.

Celebrations continue as the Pacific Pride Festival kicks off on August 22 at Chase Palm Park Field.
