The annual Obon Festival returned to Santa Maria on Sunday.
The event was held at the Veterans Memorial Center by the Guadalupe Buddhist Church.
Event organizers say it is meant to celebrate the ancestors who shared their compassion and wisdom.
The festival featured Taiko drummers, martial arts performances, and food. Guests were also able to join in on traditional Japanese Dances and participate in a silent auction.
