Community members gathered at Allan Hancock College for a black history celebration on Saturday. Judge Denise Hippach from the Santa Barbara County Superior Court was a keynote speaker at the event.
The theme was "A Century of Black Commemorations." It marks the 100th anniversary of the first black history week, which was launched by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926.
