Students at both Hancock and Cuesta colleges returned to school campuses on Aug. 17, with reports of enrollment growth.
In Santa Maria, new students at Hancock College were treated to information booths, where they could seek help finding their classes and enjoy coffee and snacks.
“We’re excited to welcome our students back to Hancock and see them begin a new semester,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “Whether they’re returning or stepping onto campus for the first time, we want every student to know there are people here who are ready to help them.”
Meanwhile, in San Luis Obispo, Cuesta College welcomed back students with a new 16-week semester format and block scheduling.
Reports reveal enrollment at the college is up almost 4% compared to the previous academic year.
“We’re entering the 2026-27 academic year with tremendous momentum and an even stronger focus on the student experience,” said Dr. Jill Stearns, superintendent/president of Cuesta College.
