The Santa Maria Police Department arrested a juvenile in possession of a 40-caliber firearm on Saturday, Jan. 17.
At around 10:15 p.m., officers patrolling the parking structure at 120 E. Main St. responded to complaints of trespassing and underage drinking. Several juveniles were found consuming alcohol. When approached, one juvenile fled on foot and entered a nearby car.
Officers then stopped the car and detained the 17-year-old boy for firearm possession and related charges.
