The U.S. Forest Service is conducting a prescribed burn in the Los Padres National Forest starting Monday.
Crews say they are burning about 10 acres near Painted Cave Road and Highway 154. Officials say the goal is to clear out hazardous fuels and reduce wildfire risk. The planned burns will continue through Wednesday. Firefighters will monitor the area around the clock.
Officials say weather conditions should push the smoke away from populated areas.
