The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department is inviting the community to a workshop focused on disaster preparedness.

The fire department says you should be prepared for 72-hours of self-survival in the event of a disaster.

The free workshop is scheduled to take place from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Library Community Room, located at 995 Palm Street in San Luis Obispo.

Fire department staff will be available to answer questions and offer tips about everything from power shutdowns to wildfires, pet safety, earthquakes, and more.

More disaster preparation advice is available on the fire department's website.
