The Triple Threat All-Star competitive cheer team from Santa Maria brought home two national championships from the 2017 American Showcase in Anaheim.
The Starlettes are made up of six members, Brianna Ybarra, Kristina Williams, Lexi Session, Savanna Link, Karolina Arrogara, and Arly Ortega. The girls competed as a junior level 3 team and were the smallest and youngest out of their competition bracket.
They have only two and a half minutes to complete the routine.
“They have to hit standing tumbling, running tumbling, stunts, group stunts, pyramid, jumps, and dance routine,” said Kali Williams, Triple Threat Head Coach.
The team is scored by difficulty and technique, which is how they pulled off first place.
“The other team didn’t have as much difficulty as us, so we ended up pulling through by 0.74 points to the championship,” said Lexi Sessions, Triple Threat All-Stars member.
In addition to the group win, the Triple Threat All-Stars won the junior level 3 duo. The two girls were also the youngest duo in their level. The girls say it all starts with practice.
“Practice technique, warming up, pointed toes, smile,” said Kristina Williams, Triple Threat All-Stars member.
The team is now preparing for the next national competition which will take place next month, the Xtreme Spirit Battle Royale in Las Vegas.
