Rookie Shane Bieber will make his major league debut – on his 23rd birthday – in the opener of a four-game series at Minnesota.

A fourth-round pick in 2016, Bieber has quickly risen through Cleveland’s system. Bieber is 5-1 with a 1.10 ERA in 10 minor league starts this season.

He pitched a rain-shortened, seven-inning no-hitter for Triple-A Columbus last week. He’s is the first pitcher in Cleveland history to debut on his birthday.

Bieber was a key part of a UC Santa Barbara rotation during his three years as a Gaucho. During his career, which spanned the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons, he went 23-12 with a 2.73 ERA. In 2015, he was 8-4 with a 2.24 ERA, earning Second Team All-Big West Conference honors.
