Atascadero High graduate Austin Kaiser, the caddy for Xander Schauffele, is tied for the lead going into the final round of the 147th Open Championship at Carnoustie, Scotland.

Kaiser and Schauffele were teammates at San Diego State University where they participated on the Aztecs’ men’s golf team.

Before SDSU, Kaiser attended Allan Hancock College where he golfed for two seasons with the Bulldogs.

Kaiser was caddying for Schauffele in 2017 when he won the PGA Tour’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ award.

Schauffele, who shot four-under par in the third round on Saturday, is locked up with Jordan Spieth and Kevin Kisner atop the leaderboard at nine-under par.

Final round coverage can be seen Sunday morning on KSBY.
