Santa Barbara High School’s football team is coming of a .500 season and a tie for second in the Channel League. During the fall campaign, it’s out with the old and in with the new. In with the new for the Dons this season is Lompoc, Santa Ynez, and Cabrillo who are all joining the Channel League with Dos Pueblos and San Marcos.
Santa Barbara head coach JT Stone says he’s excited to see how the league unfolds as the season goes on.
"To me, it’s more exciting; it’s change. You know, we’ve been in the Channel League forever and we are still playing some of the (old) Channel League teams preseason," he said. "To play Lompoc, Santa Ynez, and Cabrillo, it’s a change and something different. Regardless, we have to play football. We’re excited to see what the league brings, but we’re ready to go. It’s going to definitely be a competitive league so we’re excited about that."
Santa Barbara’s first game will be on the road against Buena.
