St. Joseph and Santa Ynez High School took home Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Athletes of the Week honors.
St. Joseph’s Devin Guggia recorded 33 carries for 168 yards and scored four touchdowns during Friday’s victory over Pioneer Valley, 35-19. The junior running back also helped the Knight’s to two straight wins and credits his offensive line for his success.
"My line because without them I’d be nothing and they got to every block so every hole would open up for me," he said. "When we came out, I felt like we just played as a team more and we had each other’s backs throughout the whole game."
Pirates’ Morgan Blunt was honored as the female Athlete of the Week. She earned medalist honors after shooting a 45 against Morro Bay and helped Santa Ynez to a 291-243 win.
