KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 4 ‘Game of the Week’ features a rivalry as Arroyo Grande hosts Nipomo.

Let’s begin our preview with the road team, Nipomo. The Titans have gotten out to one of their best starts in program history with a 3-1 record through the first four games.

Nipomo suffered its first loss of the season last week when they lost at Bishop Diego, 41-28.

The Titans have found success on both sides of the ball so far this year, a defensive touchdown beat Santa Ynez in Week 0, while the offense helped knock off defending CIF Southern Section champs, Golden West in Week 2.

Up next for Nipomo is rival, Arroyo Grande. The Titans have beat the Eagles just once in school history, that coming back in 2009.

"It’s a good rivalry," Nipomo head coach Tony Dodge said. "We’re in the same district and a lot of these kids grow up together and know each other. We look forward to playing them every year no matter how good they are. They are our big brother, but until we start to beat them more often, we’re going to be their little brother."

"The rivalry is huge. It’s a very big game because we’re very close with them," Nipomo senior cornerback Anthony Perez added. "Our towns are 10 minutes away from each other, so we have that rivalry that we just want to beat each other. It’ll be a good game."

Nipomo and Arroyo Grande will kickoff at 7 P.M. on Friday at Doug Hitchen Stadium.
