KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 6 ‘Game of the Week’ features a Mountain League opener between Arroyo Grande and St. Joseph.

After 13 schools on the Central Coast moved to the CIF Central Section, the new five-member Mountain League was formed.

The Eagles are currently a top 100 California ranked team according to MaxPreps and sitting as the number two spot in the CIF-CC Division 1 standings.

Arroyo Grande is sitting on a four-game winning streak that includes a 24-10 victory over Lompoc and a 38-0 shutout against Nipomo. The Eagles say its non-league schedule prepared them for what’s to come in the Mountain League.

“We’re 5-1, we’ve gone on some long road trips, we’ve had some home games. We’ve played a variety of offenses, everything from an ace shotgun spread, huck it around team to a wing T the very next week,” said Mike Hartman, Arroyo Grande head coach. “We have to be able to coach and get our kids lined up properly. It’s a great challenge and we’re really excited for it.”

The Eagles will kick off at St. Joseph High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
