It doesn’t matter how big the rivalry, sports can bring people together. That’s exactly the case for a group of Central Coast friends who attended Game of 4 of the 2018 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.

One couple bleeds Dodger Blue while their friend represents Boston red. While these two teams are current enemies on the field, this group of friends is keeping it friendly off the field.

Slap It On T-Shirts business owners, Leonard Anaya and Danielle Saviege grew up as Dodger fans.  They say the tradition has been carried on from generation to generation. The two have never attended a World Series game before and thought this was a perfect opportunity to create a once in a lifetime memory with their friend Justin Banks. Banks is a Massachusetts native and loyal Red Sox fan.

“All year long, we’ve been like Boston-Dodgers! We couldn’t believe they went together so this was an opportunity for both of us to together,” Anaya said. “There’s nothing like a rivalry. Also, researching it, they haven’t played in like a hundred years in the World Series against each other so that’s also the biggest opportunity – to see two great teams come together and battle it out on the field.”

“And we’re like family so it’ll be a lot of fun going together and we’ll have a good time,” Saviege said.

The World Series rivalry hasn’t impacted the group’s friendship. “He’s my best friend, we’re like family. It’s going to be a great four-hour drive on the way down. We’ll have a lot of fun, I’m sure on the way and even more fun to come once we get to the stadium,” Banks said.

The Los Angeles Dodgers collapsed in the final three innings and fell to the Boston Red Sox, 9-6. Boston takes a commanding 3-1 series lead.
