KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 12 ‘Game of the Week’ features Righetti hosting Frontier for the CIF Central Section quarterfinals.
Division 2, No. 3 Righetti received a bye for its first round and is gearing up for its first playoff game against No. 11 Frontier out Bakersfield.
Frontier faced three Central Coast teams this year. They fell to Paso Robles but defeated Atascadero in the regular season and upset Nipomo in the first round of CIF.
Frontier finished its regular season 2-8 and went winless during league but head coach Tony Payne explains the game should still be a contest. “Almost all of the other teams in their league are Division 1 opponents and they’re all really good football teams,” Payne said. “We know for sure that Frontier is a lot better than their record says and we went to watch them in person last week at Nipomo. They fought the whole entire game and in their last second, they seized their opportunity, so we’ll be ready to seize ours.”
The Warriors will enter the game well-rested. The first-round bye marked its second bye in three weeks.
The game is at Righetti High School, kickoff set for 7 p.m.
