After San Luis Obispo High School girls volleyball fell in the CIF Central Section Division 2 semifinals, the Tigers received an at-large bid for state for the first time in school history.

The team was named the No. 1 seed in Division 4 and hosted the second round against No. 8 Mira Monte Thursday night. The Tigers won 3-0.

San Luis Obispo will now face No. 4 Nordhoff in the southern regional semifinals on Saturday.

“It’s crazy to be back in the same situation we were a couple of weeks ago in CIF’s we’re hoping to make a change this time and win,” said Molly Eppright, San Luis Obispo senior team captain.

“I just think they’re having fun. We’re the only ones still playing in town and for them to see other girls having to sit in the stands who would love to be in their position,” said Marci Beddall, San Luis Obispo head coach. “I think they realize this is a huge opportunity and just to have fun with it.”

The game will be at San Luis Obispo High School on Saturday, November 10 at 5 p.m.
