Mission Prep football is preparing for its first CIF Central Section playoff game of the season as they welcome in Riverdale Christian for the 8-man semifinals.

The Royals (9-0, 6-0 Central Sierra) received the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye but didn’t need the rest. Mission Prep shut out Riverdall Christian 63-0 during the regular season.

The Royals feel confident for its semifinal game but says they have to remain focused if they want to ensure a championship appearance next week.

“We have a five-year streak of losing in the first round in the playoffs. We’ve made the playoffs eight years in a row but we have this nasty little streak that we’re certainly trying to break,” said David Schuster, Mission Prep head coach. “We certainly put ourselves in a position to do something very, very special next week, riverdale is in the way and we’ll try to see how this thing goes.”

The game will be at Mission Prep, kick off set for 7 p.m.
