After losing its first game of the season on Day 2 of the 4th Annual Home Motors Tournament, the Allan Hancock College men’s basketball team bounced back and defeated Victory Valley, 76-64, to wrap up the tournament on Sunday afternoon inside Joe White Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs took a commanding 24-point lead into halftime thanks in part to capitalizing off Rams turnovers. Glenn Jordan finished a breakaway layup just before the first half buzzer to make it 47-23. Jordan ended the game with seven points and four assists.
Hancock kept its distance to start the second half. Diego Lucas connected on a pair of runners in the lane. He scored a team-high 14 points for the Bulldogs. Lucas also fed JT Riddick a big alley-oop to make the margin, 58-37.
However, Victory Valley didn’t go away quietly. Alton Thompson helped cut the deficit all the way to 11 with under five minutes to play thanks to his game-high 23 points. But that’s as close as the Rams ever got.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 6-1 on the season. They’ll return to action on December 5 at West Hills Lemoore.
