UC Davis extended its winning streak to 13 games on Wednesday night, as Cal Poly closed its 2018-19 season with an 87-54 loss to the Aggie women’s basketball team inside The Pavilion.

Mustang freshman guard Maddie Willett sank a 3-pointer off an assist from senior forward Katie Nunnelley just over six minutes into the first quarter, cutting the Aggies’ lead to 10-9.

UC Davis (22-6, 14-1) went on a quick 8-0 run, however, before taking a double-digit lead (20-10) on a Sophia Song jumper at the 1:32 mark, en route to a 20-14 advantage heading into the second.

Cierra Hall then capped an ensuing 7-0 quarter-opening spurt, as her layup provided a 27-14 lead with 7:53 remaining until intermission.

Cal Poly senior point guard Dye Stahley knocked down a 3 to get the deficit back to a 10-point margin, but Davis — which recently secured its third-straight regular-season Big West title — answered with six straight points, ultimately heading to the break up 39-21 thanks to a Song 3-pointer on the half’s final possession.

After the squads returned to the floor, senior center Devin Stanback sank a pair of free throws before Nunnelley made a jumper, as the Mustangs (6-21, 3-13) began the third quarter pulling to within 14 at 39-25.

Hall responded with another basket in the paint, though, prior to Song adding another 3 to push the gap to 44-25, on the way to carrying a commanding 60-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Cal Poly, which last weekend was eliminated from contention for the Big West Tournament for the first time since 2005, was held to 25-percent shooting (18-for-72) by the No.6 field-goal percentage defense throughout the NCAA.
