The Cal Poly beach volleyball program will play for the first time in at its home courts in Pismo Beach Saturday when it hosts a pairs tournament that will also have pairs from CSUN and CSU Bakersfield.

It all gets started at 9 a.m. Saturday. The format will be 20 pairs from the three schools (eight from Cal Poly, six from CSUN, six from CSU Bakersfield) with five four-team pools and each match is only one game to 28 (win by two). Following pool play, the pairs will then be placed into either the gold, silver or bronze brackets.

The pairs tournament will not count towards any of the team’s overall record, nor count for any player’s record and will conclude around 4 p.m.

The No. 7 Mustangs are 3-3 so far this season and have won two matches against the AVCA Top 20. Sophomore Sjea Anderson and junior Heather Pembroke have the best pairs record for Cal Poly so far at 3-1, all at the No. 5 position.

Following Saturday, the next and final home weekend for the Mustangs will be March 29-31 when they host six Big West teams at Pismo Beach.
