Tigers roll past Mission Prep in “Slo Town Showdown”

Posted

The TIgers struck early and often on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 23-4 win over rival Mission Prep.

San Luis Obispo put up a five-spot in the first inning, and kept pouring it on in the second. Milo Merk’s grounder to short was bobbled, allowing Cooper Benson to slide home and extend the Tigers lead to five. Then Hogan Benson drilled an RBI single to right, as Dalen Righetti scored to make it 7-1.

In the third, Mission Prep’s Mace Sherlock lined a base hit to center field, but the Tigers got out of the jam with a ground ball to short.

Then San Luis Obispo exploded for six runs in both the third and fourth inning. The Tigers (14-2, 5-1) head to St. Joseph on Wednesday, while the Royals (11-5, 3-1) play at Santa Maria on Tuesday.
