Blues blow by Santa Maria, win second straight to start 2019

For the second straight night, the Blues defeated Santa Maria at Sinsheimer Park, improving to 2-0 on the early season.

In the bottom of the 4th, Ruben Mercado lifted an RBI double to left field, as Josh Ramirez came around to score the Blues’ 3rd run of the evening.

Then in the 5th, with a runner on, it was another Cuesta Cougar providing the power as Broc Mortensen launched a 2-run home run to right field, extending San Luis Obispo’s lead to 5-0.

The Blues will look to begin the 2019 campaign 3-0, as they continue their four-game set with Santa Maria on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
