For the ninth year in a row, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians donated $15,000 towards the FCA All-Star Football Classic.
The check presentation took place at last Thursday’s FCA All-Star banquet at Root 246 in Solvang.
During the event, the FCA also announced the 2019 honorary coaches and referee.
This year’s honorary referee is Bobby Kennedy, John Andree is the honorary coach for Team San Luis Obispo County, and Bob Jimenez is the honorary coach for Team Northern Santa Barbara County.
All those involved say it’s a wonderful honor to be apart of the big game.
“It was one of those things that was a no brainer for us,” Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians treasurer Veronica Sandoval said. “It’s such a good example of the community coming together and really promoting athleticism, well-being, exercise, and really putting their best foot forward.”
“It’s been really fun to be a part of that organization around here with the Central Coast with some great guys, great coaches, and great players,” honorary coach Bob Jimenez added. “It’s been fun to say that you know somebody that did that. It’s a big deal.”
