Cuesta’s Madison Collins signs with Humboldt State University

She’s one of the best to ever do it for Cuesta College women’s basketball, and on Thursday afternoon, Madison Collins took the next step in her hoops career by signing her National Letter of Intent to Division II Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA.

Cuesta held the celebration on campus for Collins, her family, friends, and coaches.

The Lumberjacks are getting a good one. Collins was a two-time Western State Conference First Team selection and a two-time Cuesta Team MVP.

Collins set Cuesta’s points per game record during her two years with a 14.5 PPG average, and she became the second Cougar to eclipse the 800 career points mark, finishing with 824.

The Melbourne, Australia native says signing to a four-year university for basketball is a dream come true.

“It was amazing, and being able to FaceTime my family was really cool, having them here even though they’re not really here,” Collins said. “It was incredible, and I honestly still can’t believe it happened. I’m excited for the next two years. It’s going to be fun.”

Collins will join a Lumberjacks squad that finished 19-8 overall last season and third place in the CCAA standings.
