History was made last season for the Five Cities youth baseball squad, as the 13U Babe Ruth All-Stars went all the way last season, capturing the World Series title.

Fast forward a year later, the young men are bigger, stronger and poised to make another run. The team was in Arroyo Grande over the weekend as it prepares for next month’s Southwest Regional Tournament, which will be played at Porter Field. The championship game will be held at Baggett Stadium on the Cal Poly campus July 27th.

“I really truly believe that we have a shot at this, to go back, and win it,” team manager Michael Afzali said. “Last year we did it for the first time in history for this area, and now they’re one year older. They’re that much bigger, stronger, faster, better.”

The regional tournament begins July 22nd.
