The San Luis Obispo Blues baseball season came to an end last week, and now this week, Dan Marple's tenure as manager is over as well.
Marple has decided to step down after three seasons with the Blues to spend more time with his family. Marple says the two sides parted ways on great terms.
During his three summers at the helm, Marple compiled an 83-60 overall record, 50-48 in California Collegiate League play. He led the Blues to a 30-win season this summer, their first since 2015.
Blues general manager Adam Stowe released a statement about Marple's departure.
"Dan is one of the classiest gentlemen I've ever met. It was an honor to have him at the helm for three seasons, and we are deeply saddened to see him go," Stowe said. "We will be forever grateful for all that he and his staff have done for the Blues and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
Stowe added the search for a new manager is underway, and he hopes to make a hire as soon as possible.
