Well-rested and ready to rock, the Santa Maria footbal team is coming off its bye week and is all set to host San Luis Obispo in our Week 7 Game of the Week.

The Saints enter their matchup against the Tigers with a 3-2 record. Santa Maria comes out of its off week on a two-game winning streak.

Santa Maria topped Golden Valley at home in Week 4, 24-6, and then in Week 5, the Saints edged Mt. Whitney on the road, 31-21.

Relying on its dynamic offense, Santa Maria has averaged over 22 points per game this season.

The Saints know it'll be tough to stop SLO's high-powered offense, but if they find a way to win, it would give them tons of momentum heading into Ocean League play.

"A win against San Luis Obispo would be huge for our confidence," Santa Maria head coach Dan Ellington said. "I think they are one of the best teams in the area, and if we could pull one off, it would make a huge difference for our program and the football team. We've had two weeks to prepare, so I hope that's long enough."

"It would build our confidence a little more. We have SLO and Templeton, pretty tough challenges so that would probably boost our confidence," Santa Maria senior Abel Santana added.

Kickoff between the Saints and the Tigers is 7 P.M.
