Orcutt’s Parker Reynolds qualified for the 2020 U.S. Summer Olympic Trials in the men’s 1500-meter freestyle on Thursday night at the Futures Regional Meet in Portland, OR.
The men’s 1500-meter qualifying time is 15:44.89 and Reynolds finished first place in a time of 15:41.73. Taking second in the race was fellow Santa Maria Swim Club member Blake Simpson, who ended in 15:49.49.
Reynolds, Simpson, and two of their teammates also set the Club’s 800-meter freestyle relay record with a time of 8:00.32. It was good enough for 23rd.
Reynolds will compete in three more events during Futures - men’s 200-meter freestyle, men’s 400-meter freestyle, and men’s 800-meter freestyle.
The 2020 U.S. Summer Olympic Swimming Trials will be held June 21-28, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska.
