Students graduate from Santa Maria high schools

Seniors from the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District are graduating today, specifically students from Ernest Righetti High School, Pioneer Valley High School and Santa Maria High School.

In staggered graduations, students had the chance to celebrate their accomplishments. Each school celebrated through a form of drive-through graduation, according to the school's website.

In the 2020 graduating class at SMHS, 591 students are graduating. Officials said 72 of their students have been accepted to schools in the University of California system, which is a new school record.

620 students are graduating from PVHS and 503 students are graduating from RHS. Overall, this totals to nearly 2,000 graduates for the district.
