Road closures, incidents and hazards on the Central Coast

Heavy rain and strong winds are causing dangerous road conditions, power lines and trees to fall, and other incidents affecting roadways.

Here is a list of the latest major road incidents and closures:

UPDATE (12:43 p.m.) - Santa Rosa Creed Road in Cambria is closed from Main Street to Highway 46.

UPDATE (12:17 p.m.) - Betteravia Road in Santa Maria from Broad Road to Ray Road is closed due to a crash and downed utility pole. No injuries were reported.

Philbric from Betteravia to Stowell roads and Philbric to Rosemary in Santa Maria is closed due to flooding.

UPDATE (11:22 a.m.) - A downed utility line has closed Greet Street in Cambria from London Lane to Finney Road.

Near Gaviota, one northbound lane of Highway 101 was closed at Mariposa Reina due to flooding. It was not immediately known when the lane would re-open.

UPDATE (9:04 am.) - Flooding is being reported in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in Santa Maria near the Betteravia Road offramp.

UPDATE (8:20 am.) - San Luis Bay Drive is closed from Highway 101 to Monte Road due to flooding.

UPDATE (7:59 a.m.) - The City of Santa Maria says Los Flores Ranch Park will be closed Thursday and Friday due to the rain.

Wires are said to be down on the road on the 9000 block of Yerba Buena Ave. in Santa Margarita.

A tree is down along Willow Drive near Los Osos Valley Road in Los Osos.

Flooding is also being reported in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the San Luis Bay Drive offramp.

UPDATE (7:13 a.m.) - Main Street is closed from Windsor Blvd. to Cambria Dr. in Cambria due to flooding.

In Paso Robles, N. River Road from Wellsona Road to Estrella Road is also closed due to flooding.

And in Santa Maria, CHP is reporting flooding in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Santa Maria Way offramp.

UPDATE (6:32 a.m.) - CHP is reporting flooding in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Madonna Road offramp in San Luis Obispo. Crews are being dispatched to assess the scene and place signage if necessary.

UPDATE (6:21 a.m.) - A tree is reportedly down and blocking Ballard Canyon Road at Highway 246.

In the Shell Beach area, a vehicle is said to have rolled off southbound Highway 101 south of the Shell Beach Road offramp. No word on the extent of any injuries.

A vehicle reportedly spun out in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near Laetitia Vineyard Drive.

In Atascadero, mud, dirt and rocks is said to be in the lanes of Highway 41 near Homestead Road.

UPDATE (5:26 a.m.) - Caltrans is reporting Highway 1 between Division Street and Osos Flaco Lake Road near Guadalupe is closed due to flooding Thursday morning. There is no estimated time for reopening.

UPDATE (12:45 a.m.) - CHP is reporting small to medium sized mudslides in the westbound lanes of Highway 46 near Templeton.

According to CHP, due to downed power lines, Creston Road is closed from the Paso Robles city limits to Franklin Hot Sprins. PG&E is en route, the closure is expected to be long-term.

Also in northern San Luis Obispo County, a large tree is down blocking the entire roadway of Chimney Rock Road. The tree is about one foot in diameter, crews are responding.

Near Burton Drive in Cambria, a tree and lines are down causing a traffic hazard in the roadway. Crews are en route, their ETA is unknown at this time.
