The cause of the fire has not yet been released. This story will be updates as more information becomes available. A vehicle fire near Pismo Beach has prompted the closure of Highway 101. As of 1:18 a.m. Tuesday morning, the southbound lane of Highway 101 near Pismo Beach was closed because of a vehicle fire in the area. The vehicle was reportedly filled with flammable liquid. CALFIRE_ SLO resources are at scene of a commercial vehicle fire south bound on Hwy 101 in Pismo Beach. Fire is knocked down.Firefighters will be at scene for 30 minutes. Traffic is slow in the area. Please watch out! #PriceIC — CAL FIRE SLO (@CALFIRE_SLO) April 3, 2018 According to CHP, a vehicle caught fire on the highway near Price street at approximately 12:42 a.m. Officers closed both sides of the highway and traffic was diverted. The fire was knocked down around 1 a.m. and the closure on the northbound side was lifted. Officers said the southbound slow lane will be closed for an extended period of time.
