The post office in the Read ‘n Post store in Montecito is extending its hours on April 17 to give people extra time to file their taxes on deadline day.

The post office typically closes at 6 p.m. but officials said they are extending hours until 9 p.m. on tax day only. Anyone who comes in to mail tax documents or letters will have them postmarked April 17 as long as they are in before 9 p.m. Stamps will also be available for late purchase.

If people send large packages however, they must be in by 6 p.m.

Officials said they are extending hours to give people extra time after work.

Staff will also be offering discounted greeting cards.
